The Punch and Verse is a multimedia performance which integrates oral poetry, a boxing training session, and textual imagery around Allen Ginsberg’s “Hum Bom!”.

The voice of Allen Ginsberg reading his poem is the rhythm, the sound under which the boxer Santana and his trainer exchange training punches on stage. This punches trigger the text appearing on the walls, while in the projection this verses are combined with images of destruction caused by bombings.

In the pictures below, the performance at the Live Image Processing Show, in ITP, dec. 11th 2004.

The boxer Santana and his trainer performed a warming session while the poem (a recoring from a Ginberg's recitation) was played on the speakers. At every punch, the verse that was being read appeared on the screen, as some images where flashing.
